About Me

I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) in Utah. My license number is 14300378-6004.

The American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists (AASECT) has certified me as a sex therapist, a sex therapy supervisor, and a continuing education provider.

I am an Approved Clinical Supervisor through the Center for Credentialing and Education, which certifies me to provide clinical supervision services for other mental health professionals.

I’ve been doing this work for 25 years now. (Some days I feel that more than others!) Spending that kind of time in the field means I’ve sat with people through nearly every version of a hard season – the beginning of a marriage and the possible end of one, a health crisis, a betrayal, a body that stopped cooperating, a faith that stopped fitting, a life that quietly stopped feeling like theirs.

How I work

I treat people, not conditions. That’s not just a phrase I like – it’s how I actually practice. There are a lot of starting points for therapy and just as many reasons to be here. You might know exactly what needs attention, or you might not, and either is fine. My job is to understand you and your particular experience, not to run you through a formula built for someone else.

I hold a deep respect for the values and backgrounds people bring with them into this work, including religious or culturally specific upbringings. My primary goal is to help you build a life that fits within your own value system – not one that requires you to abandon it. I stay engaged in my own growth as a clinician, too, and welcome feedback from the people I work with. This practice isn’t static, and neither am I.

At least as important as my identity as a therapist, who else I am in the world matters to my work. I am a mom. A daughter. A sister. A friend. A significant other. A lifelong dog person. More recently, a cat person as well. A student and a teacher. A reader and a writer. A fantastic baker. An…enthusiastic artist. An overly optimistic planner. A person who needs regular doses of music, sleep, woods, and both saltwater and big tall mountains. I love my life. I continue to learn how to live with the tension of it all, embracing what’s been called ‘the full catastrophe’ of really being alive.

It’s important for you to know…

I am someone who loves my work. I really love it. I marvel sometimes at the gifts this work has provided me. I’ve been able to sit with really precious people, guiding them through hard times and celebrating good times. I’ve been changed by those moments and I’m grateful for them all.
